1. Covid rapid test (antigen test)

However, the rapid test is considered to be less accurate than the PCR test.

2. Covid PCR Tests
A PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test detects the viral genetic material of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus. It is considered the golden standard of tests because it is highly accurate. The results are available 1-2 days after the test.
It can detect the virus even in those who have no symptoms.
PCR testing is done by collecting throat and nasal swabs.
There are two types of nasal swabs. One that collects a sample immediately inside the nostril and one called a nasopharyngeal swab that goes further into the nasal cavity.
As many airlines are requesting proof of a negative PCR test result taken 2-3 days before boarding the flight, most medical establishments require you to produce a flight ticket. They are usually strict with time parameters to ensure the airline requirements are met.
- Positive test result: the person is identified as having the SARS-CoV-2 Virus and can transmit the virus to the community.
